Cowboys CanFan Weekly Wrap Up | February 18th, 2023

Some good stories, in that they are interesting at the very least, for the Dallas Cowboys this week!

Dak Prescott 2nd Player To Be “Excited” For McCarthy Calling Plays

Dak Prescott has voiced his excitement for play calling duties to fall into the hands of Coach Big Mike McCarthy. Last week, CeeDee Lamb also shared his excitement, so hearing that is a good thing.

Whether the duo are just paying lip service to a hungry and sensationalizing sports media is one thing, but Dak said he expects a “20% - 30% change” in the offense.

Obviously, we hope this means an improvement! The Cowboys average passing yards per game have dropped 25% from a high of 297 yards in 2020, to 220 yards in 2022.

2022 was also the lowest average over the past 4 seasons — by 15%!!!

And it’s not just the Cowboys as a whole; Dak Prescott had his lowest average yards per game in 2022 over the last 4 years. Check it:

  • 2019 | 306 Y/G

  • 2020 | 371 Y/G

  • 2021 | 278 Y/G

  • 2022 | 238 Y/G

If the Cowboys want to turn this trend around, they need to find help for Dak and CeeDee, but the fact they are both excited about the change in OC from Vanilla Pudding to Big Mike is promising, for what it’s worth today.

Trevon Diggs Owes $33.5K in Rent, Sued By Landlord

The story goes that Trevon Diggs owes over $33,000 in lease, maintenance, and cleaning fees after he thought the issue with his ex-landlord was resolved.

It might not be a huge hit for a guy who is paid $1.2m, but no one can be excited to see a $33,500 bill show up in the form of a lawsuit.

Diggs lawyer did respond and said that the situation was due to a miscommunication, and that’s one pricey “wires crossed” scenario! But interestingly enough, Trevon Diggs’ lawyer goes on to say that Diggs had been "taken advantage of” by some acquaintances.

And so the story is a little more juicy than what’s on the surface. It appears that Trevon Diggs was sincere in saying he was unaware of the damage, but the “friends”, or in this case “acquaintances”, of athletes taking advantage of them is something we hear about time and time again.

It must feel really shitty to have people you trust, or thought you knew, take advantage of you, and so I feel for Diggs, but at the end of the day, you have to be responsible with these situations, and so let’s hope Diggs can get this sorted before he has to put his mind back on the wonderful game of NFL Football!

How Much Is Zeke Elliott Worth?

Our host and Dallas Cowboys Canadian Super Fan Anthony Besse wrote a blog about the worth of Zeke Elliott.

Anth has always been a yuuuuuge supporter of Zeke, but his recent break-down on Elliott’s contract had him thinking otherwise. The love is still there, but anything over $5 million, Anthony says, is just too much for the aging NFL Super Star.
